STUDIO DIARY

Studio Diary Part Two

We arrived in Fort Collins and immediately got to work on the songs, and in fact, ending up writing a a whole bunch more of them in the first couple weeks. Bill and Jason helped coax the rock out us and, when we were't trying to cover Motorhead songs, we actually got a lot done. Once we finished the structure of songs, Brandon got to work on the drums while the rest of us entertained ourselves around town, which included a night of weirdness with our good buddy Magic Cyclops over at the Surfside, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Wilhelm Scream even rolled through town on their recent tour and we were all able to take a minute out of our schedules to enjoy a BBQ over at Bill's house, at which point many trampoline antics ensued (see the pics to your right for the Zach and Tim's patent double back-flip ).

Guitars and bass started shortly after, and so far are going great. They sound bigger and better than anything we've done yet and everyone has been really impressed. We're experimenting with a lot of sounds and attempting to tastefully implement them in our songs, so far, so good...

We took the weekend off to play the Weenie Roast with Metallica, Offspring and our friends in Bad Religion, Pennywise and Flogging Molly. The show was incredible, definitely the best radio show we've ever been a part of, thanks to our fans who made the trip...

Rise Against Back In The Studio!

"Tis true, Rise Against is back in the studio working on our next record and we're pretty pumped. We'll be once again in the capable hands of Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore at the Blasting Room where we did our last record ( and also Revolutions Per Minute, as well as the men who re-mixed/re-mastered the Unraveling, but we digress....) We spent many weeks in Chicago throughout the end of winter writing new songs in our rehearsal space and we're pretty stoked on the direction. Too early to tell you what this thing is sounding like, but its got the same energy and power of our past releases and we can't wait to wrap it up and get it out to you.

But it's not all work here in RA world, we took some time off to play an unannounced Chicago show at the Metro with our friends in the Gallows and Cancer Bats on Superbowl Sunday, which, of course, was awesome and thanks to all who made it a good time (and check out the new Cancer Bats record by the way!) Then, while Zach was home in Texas during South By Southwest. he was invited to play a set of Black Flag songs with Luke from the Gorilla Biscuits, Mike Herrera from MxPx, and our good buddy Sam from Complete Control singing. Kudos to you if you were lucky enough to witness that !

Besides that, the Chicago winter kept us indoors and busy and writing new songs for our thirsty fans. We intend to keep you posted with this new fancy Studio Diary, and we'll include some pics whenever our lazy asses take some. Next post; Colorado and The Blasting Room..."
