We receive requests for autographs and we've heard about enough fake ones being peddled as authentic ones, so thought we would make some available to those of you who want them, while donating all of the money to various charities. For the time being, that charity is Doctors Without Borders as they continue to provide relief to Haiti and it's people. You can find them in our webstore. We have new merch coming out this week as well, and Ground shipping will be free until March 12 - CLICK HERE

We're happy to be finally returning to West Palm Beach, FL on May 1st, 2010 for this years SUNFEST at FLAGLER DRIVE DOWNTOWN! The people, the sun, the music, we are stoked to get back down to Florida for our first US show of the year.
After we canceled our appearance at the Buzz Bake Sale earlier this year, we are grateful for the opportunity to play for our amazing fans in the area, free from the political demands of the program director at the BUZZ 103.1 FM. The bottom line in our disagreement with the Buzz is that Rise Against seeks to protect a band's right to stand for something where the BUZZ would chip away at that right to serve it's own agenda instead of serving the listeners and the bands that make up it's format. We felt the need to blow the whistle on this kind of behavior in radio before it spreads. No matter where you sit on this debate, there is a bigger picture that we can all agree on; if we are at the edge of a slippery slope where radio stations start applying political pressure on the artists it plays in exchange for airplay and festival slots, than the airwaves will have been truly hijacked by program directors with agendas, and it's playlists will be stocked with those willing to give in to their demands.
In case you missed it, the BUZZ demanded we play on a stage sponsored by the recruiting dept. of a branch of the military. Explaining our anti-war position, we explained the conflict of interest. We were told nothing could be done, and were forced to cancel our appearance before the show was announced. We held no grudge to the financially-obligated station until the BUZZ's program director swung the first punch live on air in an amateur tirade of misinformation and defamation. In a clear abuse of power, Rise Against was pulled from the airwaves. Fortunately, listeners of the radio station rallied behind us and, in the wake of the controversy, listener demand had the BUZZ playing Rise Against more than any other station in the country several weeks in a row. We love our incredible fans in the West Palm area! Clearly, your program director does not represent you.
Army recruitment in a time of unjust and illegal wars is something Rise Against is firmly opposed too. Troops deserve support, but this war does not and we will not support it in any way. Especially, if that means playing on a stage paid for by the military-industrial complex, which is funded by you and I. Despite America's serious needs, the government spends more money trying to convince us to join the military than on basic human needs like education. Billions are poured every year into propaganda to win the hearts and minds of the American public (CHECK THIS LINK FOR MORE). The BUZZ was happy to be one of the many recipients of that money, and valued that money over the music.
To be clear, Rise Against has in the past and will continue to play festivals (but never our own shows) sponsored, in part, by recruiting departments of different branches of the military. We jump at the opportunity to be an alternate viewpoint, and without our ( or like-minded bands ) presence, recruiting becomes a one-sided argument. But we draw the line at playing on their stage. For the same reason that the BUZZ, who was involved in a Tobacco Free Florida campaign, would be at odds with simultaneously doing an event with, for example, Marlboro, we were at odds with participating in their festival.
If this is something you care about also, you can contact the BUZZ 103.1 at their website, who continues to stand behind their decision instead of behind the music and the people who have spoken. In the meantime, we are ready to rock out with everyone at Sunfest on May 1st! For show info/tickets CLICK HERE

That's right, one good shoe deserves another. We were so stoked on the last shoe collaboration with VANS and got so much great feedback that we gave it another go, this time with a strikingly different shoe, CLICK HERE for a picture and ordering info.

Tim & Zach will be on hand at the Shangri-La in Austin, TX this coming Thursday, Feb 25th to play some acoustic songs as part of the Bike For Your Rights: Benefit for Mariel Mentink. Details about the show can be found HERE , please come out to have fun and support Mariel and this cause.
As we wrap up the Appeal To Reason run, we went back and checked out some of the footage from our first video of the record, "Re-Education (Through Labor)", and found lots of cool parts that didn't make it into the final cut. So our man Kevin Kerslake went back to give us a slightly different edit, you can check it out HERE:
